Nicholas McCallum began his career as an actor and had since amassed extensive experience as a production designer on over 30 feature films, television series, and theatre productions throughout Australia and the world, including China.

Mr. McCallum's feature film production design credits include:

  • James Cameron’s Sanctum 3D
  • Bait 3D
  • The Black Balloon
  • Kokoda
  • The Clinic
  • Gettin'  Square starring Timothy Spall, David Wenham, and Sam Worthington
  • The NuggetThe Goddess of 1967 starring Rose Byrne
  • In the Winter Dark starring Brenda Blethyn
  • In a Savage Land starring Rufus Sewell

His television production designs include:

  • Answered by Fire
  • Bryce Courtenay’s The Potato Factory
  • Spellbinder, Land of the Dragon Lord – an Australian / China co-production series produced together with the Shanghai Film Group and shot throughout China in 1995.

Theatre Design credits include Australia’s Entertainment Centre tour of Grease, The Arena Spectacular, and High Spirits.

His feature film art direction credits include:

  • Sniper starring Tom Berenger
  • House of Wax with Paris Hilton
  • South Pacific starring Glen Close.

Mr. McCallum’s acting credits with the Chichester Festival Theatre Company include Cyrano de Bergerac directed by Jose Ferrer, Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People and Othello starring Topol.

Mr. McCallum’s nominations for Australia’s top film awards include the AFI Award for Best Production Design for a Feature Film – (In a Savage Land and Gettin’ Square) and the Inside Film Award for Best Production Design – (Kokoda and The Black Balloon).

Mr. McCallum has worked throughout Asia and China since 1988 and has several official treaty co-production Feature Films in development, featuring the action adventure romance (The Stone Forest 3D), rom-com (Divorce Trip), crime thriller (In the Midst of Darkness), rock musical (New World 3D), and the comedy action romance (Good Luck with the Rest of Your Life).

Mr. McCallum is the director of NJM Worldwide and at Southern Light Films Queensland.
