Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital in Tanzania is set for construction,an initiative that will come in handy as it will help the public health facility to cope with the immensely growing population in the country’s capital city.
While Confirming the reports, the Chairman of the Regional Hospital’s Board, Ambassador Job Lusinde, said that they have already acquired 50 acres of land for the construction of the mega project in Nala area.
“We are currently on the first stages where we are developing the hospital master plan before inviting tenders for the construction project,” said Ambassador Job Lusinde.
Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Faustine Ndugulile was also happy with the idea and demanded to know the future plans for the hospital following the government’s shift to Dodoma from Dar es Salaam.
“The hospital should now develop a long-term plan in order to cope with the growing population in the region,” said Dr Ndugulile.
Benjamin Mkapa Hospital remains as a Zonal Referral Hospital as the Dodoma regional hospital should plan for expansion of its infrastructure to cope with the booming population. The hospital serves between 300 and 500 outpatients a day and admits between 250 and 280 patients – approximately.
The hospital has a mission to provide quality; affordable; equitable and sustainable regional referral laboratory services in order to contribute the quality of health status of the community of Dodoma Region and central zone.
