The Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) is an independent not-for-profit institution that provides world-class mediation services for parties in cross-border commercial disputes.
Launched in November 2014 by the Singapore Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and the Minister for Law, Mr K Shanmugam SC, the SIMC relies on Singapore's strategic location in the heart of Asia, robust legal system, and comprehensive business infrastructure to help parties achieve cost-effective, sustainable, and innovative solutions to their conflicts. Collaborating with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the SIMC pioneered the unique Arbitration-Mediation-Arbitration protocol allowing parties to leverage on the highly qualified arbitrators of SIAC and the distinguished international mediators of SIMC within a single process. With the AMA Protocol, parties can effectively benefit from the time and cost savings of mediation and the enforceability of a consent arbitral award.Today, the SIMC Mediator Panel comprises elite mediators from more than 14 different jurisdictions who were selected for their proven track record in resolving cross border disputes. In the two years since its launch, the SIMC has assisted disputants from more than 20 jurisdictions and handled nearly SGD1billion in disputed claims while achieving a settlement rate well above 70%.
