The Sovereign Art Foundation is a charity registered in Hong Kong and the UK that raises money to help disadvantaged children using the arts as rehabilitation, education and therapy.
It was established in 2003 and runs the annual Sovereign Art Prizes in both Asia and Africa. The prizes are visual arts prizes and were established not only to raise money for charity, but to also give recognition to some of the most important artists of our time.
The first Asian prize took place in 2003. Due to overwhelming success, the Foundation expanded to London and the Sovereign European Art prize was established in 2005, with a later expansion to Cape Town where the Sovereign African Art Prize was established in 2011.
In 2004, we established the Sovereign Art Foundation Fellowship in conjunction with the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) (affiliated to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund). Since then, the Foundation has also assisted various other worthy charitable causes throughout Asia, Europe and Africa.
