Background Information:Zhong Jian Jin Bian Jing Ji Te Qu Ltd, responsible for the construction of Sino-Cambodian Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone Project, is established in May 2013. It is registered in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia for 10 million USD. The special economic zone project is located 60 km outside of Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. With a total planned area of 30 km2, it is the largest special economic zone approved by the Cambodian government to explore the new “industry-city” integration idea. Connecting to Thailand and Phnom Penh, the National Highway 5 passes through the project area, making it the center of transportation for land, air and water.

Follow the “The Belt and Road” Initiative of China, the project aims to build a platform for Chinese companies to “Go Aboard”. With goals to become the success symbol of collaboration between China and Cambodia, the project strives to become the most pronounced “industry-city” example in the ASEAN.

Project Content and Description : Located in the Kampong Chhnang Province 60 km to the northwest of Phnom Penh, the Sino-Cambodian Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone is connected to Phnom Penh via National Highway No.5. With a total planned area of 30 km2, around 2 billion USD (13.6 billion Yuan)is being invested into the project. The project is divided into two stages. Around 14 km2 of lands are being brought and permanently owned during the first stage, as well as an investment of 1.08 billion USD (7.34 billion Yuan) is put forth. More lands will be acquired in the future. Project planning development, infrastructure construction, marketing and advertising, and project management and operation are all in the process of planning and initiating. The total duration of this project is 10-15 years with goal of becoming livable for human being. With the studies of “industry-city ” model examples around the world, the project is separated into four stages: The Initiative Stage, The Development Stage, The Mature Stage, and The Transformation Stage.
