Miami Art Week!

Date: 29 Nov - 04 Dec 2022
Location: Miami

Mersuka Dopazo, Music Life, 2022, mixed media, oil on canvas with hand-painted vintage frame, 210 x 256 cm

The Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery returns to Florida for Art Miami which opens next week. We will be exhibiting a body of new work by the Spanish-born contemporary artist, Mersuka Dopazo. Working on a large scale, deploying elements of painting, drawing, collage and appliqué, Dopazo creates compelling compositions alive with colour. Her favoured motifs are still-lifes and figurative groups of brilliantly dressed, larger-than-life, individuals. Her work is characterised by both a raw and open energy and a sophisticated technical mastery.

Opportunities to be captivated by intricate details constantly present themselves in Dopazo's work - coats assembled from patches of hand-printed fabrics, or children' shoes made from a puzzle of neon paper scraps on thickly gessoed parquet floors. In addition to its striking tactility, Dopazo’s work is imbued with a forceful and infectious sense of joy.

To all our American friends, please join us at Art Miami at booth AM524 from Tuesday 29 November - Sunday 4 December.

The excitement continues as the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery opens the doors of its new gallery, the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery: Miami Project, situated in the heart of Miami's Little Havana district.

Miami has established itself over the last decade as the Contemporary Art capital of America. The Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery: Miami Project adds to this buregoning reputation whilst consolidating the gallery's decade-long presence in the United States.
