Opportunity in Airport Sector in Brazil

Confirmed by the Ministry of Transports, Ports and Civil Aviation that it is scheduled for the next 15th of March of 2019 the offer of 12 airports in the Partnership and Investment Program (PPI) that counts with an estimation of national and international funding.

In this scenario, international operators have already presented concrete plans to join the auction shared by Brazilian Government, with concession period of 30 years.

According to ANAC – National Civil Aviation Agency – the investment projected for the three blocks is of R$ 3,5 bi. The winners of the auction will be defined by the best economic proposal, that means the one that presents the biggest offer over the minimum amount to be paid single.

Also, according to ANAC, the 12 airports that will be licensed are divided into three blocks: Northeast, Southeast and Mid-West. The first is composed by Recife (PE), Maceió (AL), Aracaju (SE), Juazeiro do Norte (CE), João Pessoa and Campina Grande, in Paraíba.

To the auction, the minimum amount is R$ 171 million. The forecast is that the full amount reaches R$ 1,7 billion (first grant plus money from variable ones), to be paid yearly. The estimated investment is of R$ 2,153 billion to the entire block.

The company or investor that awards the airports is responsible for administration, improvement, enlargement and further investments in the terminals. The Air traffic control is responsibility of the Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária (Infraero).

Please notice that due to the change of concession becoming by blocks, the auction is more interesting for investors, and with a reduction of the initial grant. Whoever awards it pays the amount of grant defined in the auction, besides the annual grant.
