China’s green bond market is already the second largest in the world, hitting $31.3bn of certified issuance in 2019, according to data from the Climate Bonds Initiative. It only looks likely to get bigger. A recent plan to remove clean coal from the list of eligible green bond projects in the onshore market will bring China much closer to international standards ─ and encourage a surge of investment from foreign portfolio managers.
GlobalCapitalChina and Euromoney Conferences will host a series of webinars on China’s sustainability-linked bond market, exploring the opportunities, challenges and long-term potential of the market. Each webinar will build on the previous discussion, giving investors, analysts, bankers and other interested parties a guide to China’s green and sustainable financing markets. Our debut webinar will primarily focus on the overall appeal of China’s sustainable bond markets from both global investor and issuer perspectives. Global investors, Chinese issuers, and global issuers looking for funding channels in China’s markets, especially those being committed to the sustainability goals, are welcome to attend.
Date: Tuesday, 15 September 2020
Time: 2:30pm HKT
Topic: How Attractive is China’s Sustainable Bond Market to Foreign Investors?
This webinar will use the proposed rule change of ruling out clean coal as eligible green bond project as a jumping off point to discuss the wider appeal of sustainable bonds in China to investors entering the market through Bond Connect, CIBM Direct or the QFII schemes.
The webinar will be simultaneously interpreted in English and Mandarin.
