Grace Zhu graduated from the School of Power Machinery of Tsinghua University in 1967.
From 1968 to 1985 she was an engineer in a heavy machinery plant, responsible for quality inspection and technical issues. Her products developed during this period won national and provincial prizes. In 1984, she led a delegation to Japan from which she introduced the crane truck assembly technology and quality management concept into China.
From 1985 to 2008, she worked for a few governmental and non-governmental organizations and visited Chinese nationals living abroad.
Since her retirement in 2008, she has been engaged in international promotion of photovoltaic energy projects. She is the Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai New Energy Industry Association and was a senior consultant with the Greater Phoenix City Economic Development Commission, Arizona, US.
She has helped Chinese enterprises to explore new energy projects and infrastructure projects opportunities overseas. She has frequently accompanied national leaders in their visits to the US and attended the Sino-US Trade Forum as a member of the Chinese delegation.
As the Deputy Secretary General of the Preparatory Committee of SNEC International Solar Energy Industry and Photovoltaic Engineering (Shanghai) Exhibition & Forum, she has led the preparation of 7 SNEC financial summits.
