Daniel Urech, a former partner and now of counsel at the Zurich law firm Wenger & Vieli AG, advises international clients (predominantly in the field of financial services) on company law, contract law, and corporate governance.

Mr. Urech was a board member of the Zurich Bar Association and its Chairman in 1995 and 1996. He is currently:

  • a member of the board of several international companies (among them are members of Adinvest and ReedElsevier); and
  • the Chairman of the board of a major Swiss international school and various cultural and civic institutions.

Before joining Wenger & Vieli, he was a Founding Partner of Hürlimann Urech & Uhlmann. Prior to that, he acquired broad professional expertise:

  • in the Zurich Insurance Company with postings in Zurich, Chicago, and London;
  • from being part of the Aga Khan’s personal planning and advisory team; and
  • as the Regional Manager (Middle East) of the Swiss Bank Corporation.

Born in 1938 and a native Swiss, Mr. Urech was educated at the Universities of Geneva (école d'interprêtes, faculté de droit), Princeton (Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs), and Bern (Law School).
