Doug is a non-executive director of ASX listed Neometals Limited. Up to April 2016, he was Chairman of UniQuest, the main commercialisation vehicle of the University of Queensland. He was also a non-executive Director of Arrium Limited. He is also a director of a number of private companies.
He worked for Rio Tinto from 1986 to 2013 and was a member of Rio Tinto’s Executive Committee, and the Group Executive responsible for China.
He has also been a Director of Jinchuan Group International Resources (HKSE), Coal & Allied Limited (ASX 50), Rossing Uranium Limited, and Chairman of Riversdale Mining Limited. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was formerly Chairman of the Coal Industry Advisory Board to the International Energy Agency, a Director of the World Coal Association and a Director of the Queensland Resources Council.
Mr Ritchie holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland, and is a qualified barrister and solicitor. He joined Rio Tinto in 1986 from the coal industry and held a number of management positions in various Rio Tinto businesses, including Exploration, Project Development, Energy, Industrial Minerals and Aluminum.
He was appointed as Managing Director of Dampier Salt Limited (1997 – 2001), Head of Business Evaluation for Rio Tinto (2001 – 2005), Managing Director of Rio Tinto Diamonds (2005 – 2006), Chief Executive of Rio Tinto Coal Australia (2006 – 2007), Managing Director of Strategy for Rio Tinto (2007 – 2009), Chief Executive of the Energy Product Group (2009 – 2012) and Group Executive, Strategy until his retirement. He also served as the Chairman of the Rio Tinto Staff Superannuation Fund.
Doug has lived and worked in most States of Australia, as well as Japan, the United Kingdom and Belgium. Doug currently resides in Brisbane, Australia.
