Biography

Senior Partner at TransAsia Lawyers and leader of the employment law and intellectual property law practices, Dr Wan is a graduate of Peking University (LL.M in International Economics Law with High Distinction; LL.D in Intellectual Property Law). She has 26 years' experience in advising clients on foreign direct investments in China and has participated in negotiations under numerous JV projects. Dr Wan is the first non-PRC national to serve as a Director of the China Labor Law Studies Association, following her nomination in 1997 by the PRC Ministry of Labor & Social Security (MOLSS, now known as the Ministry of Human Resources & Social Security). In 2006, she was appointed as a Director of the China Social Security Law Research Association, serving in which role as the sole representative from the Hong Kong SAR. Dr Wan is also Deputy Director of the Legal Committee of China E-Commerce Association.

  • Employment Law: employment contracts, employee handbooks, social security, wages and working hours, non-compete, retrenchment, trade unions and collective bargaining, stock options, expatriate employment, and dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration and litigation).
  • E-commerce Law: online transactions, digital signature and privacy policies.
  • Land and Real Estate Law: negotiations and documentation for commercial office buildings and foreign investment land usage (including transfers, leasing and granting of land use rights etc.)

  • 2004 Regulations on Labor & Social Security Supervision and the 2008 PRC Employment Contract Law
  • 2008 amendments to the PRC Elderly People’s Protection Law
  • 2005 PRC Electronic Signature Law (effective 1 April 2005)
  • 2009 Guiding Opinion on the Protection of Online Commercial Data as one of the three government-appointed experts
