Former Italian Prime-Minister and Honorary Chairman of SRCA visits SRCA Secretariat

On 8th May 2018, Silk Road Cities Alliance (SRCA) had an honour to welcome former Italian Prime-Minister and Honorary Chairman of SRCA Mr. Massimo D`Alema at SRCA Secretariat. While Mr. D`Alema`s has attended the grand gathering to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx, as one of the keynote speakers at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, he considerately set aside a half day out of his tight schedule to pay a visit to SRCA Secretariat.

The meeting of Mr. D`Alema with the SRCA Secretariat team was held in a very warm and interactive atmosphere. Former Prime-Minister and Honorary Chairman of SRCA shared his views on the historical importance of Belt and Road initiative especially against the backdrop of the current political and economic situation in the world. He stressed that the world is facing many new challenges, including the risk of trade wars and other kinds of tensions and confrontation among the global powers. The Belt and Road Initiative is coming to play increasingly big role in the relevant regions and across the globe, and one of its most outstanding and influential features is that it involves not only governments, but more importantly and indispensably, it prioritizes the people-to-people exchange and cooperation, which is the most powerful approach to cope with the increasingly complicated challenges In this perspective, Mr. D`Alema shared his positive comments about the encouraging progress of SRCA in its efforts in integrating all kinds of social resources with expected efficiency and performance within the framework of building and sharing the Belt and Road. Former Prime-Minister kindly reaffirmed his blessing and support as always for SRCA in its multi-dimensional endeavours. The founder of SRCA Mr. San Yuan in his turn expressed high appreciation for Mr. D`Alema`s consistent support and inspiring guidance for SRCA.

Mr. San Yuan also introduced 2018 annual plan of SRCA to the distinguished guest, especially the upcoming events of Jiayuguan Silk Road Food Cultural Festival in June, Silk Road and Young Dreams in August, the 15th World Congress of Chinese Medicine in Rome in November as well as the progress that SRCA has achieved recently in terms of capacity building and institutional construction. SRCA is looking forward to Mr. D`Alema`s attendance at Jiayuguan Silk Road Food Cultural Festival, where Former Prime-Minister will be the honorary guest along with other international distinguished figures. Mr. D`Alema said he would be looking forward to attending this magnificent event.
