In another outstanding achievement for the firm, DFDL Myanmar was awarded the National Firm of the Year by IFLR for its 5th consecutive year. The award was given to William Greenlee at the International Financial Law Review Asia Awards ceremony in Hong Kong on 2nd March 2017.
DFDL has successfully assisted the new Thai lenders syndicate on the refinancing of the 615MW Nam Ngum 2 hydropower project in the Lao PDR, closed on 27 September 2016. The transaction is valued at USD 573 million and will refinance the construction and operation phase of the project, as well as upgrades to the Nabong transmission facilities for export of electricity from the Lao PDR to Thailand.

DFDL is acting as Thai legal counsel for China-based Ping An Bank in relation to a USD 400 million financing of the Chao Phraya Estate, a luxury mixed-use development planned for the Bangkok water front. The project includes a Four Seasons hotel and residences and is being developed by Landmark Holdings, an affiliate of Country Group Development, in association with Beijing Construction Engineering Group and its Thai subsidiary, BCEGT Thailand. Construction will be completed in Q4 of 2018.
