Scientific Games Relocates Headquarters to Southern Nevada

The manufacturing and technology company Scientific Games announced that it is moving its headquarters from New York City to Southern Nevada.

The company, which acquired Vegas-based game manufacturer Bally’s in 2014, has a large existing presence in Nevada with more than 1,500 employees. Scientific Games also recently acquired WMS Industries, Inc., based in Chicago. The company examined Illinois, Nevada, and New York as potential locations for its headquarters.

The relocation decision will bring 202 jobs to Southern Nevada, which includes employees at the corporate headquarters and in research and development. The announcement maintains and strengthens Southern Nevada’s position as a global industry leader in gaming and gaming manufacturing.

Scientific Games Productions, a production company, will also relocate from New York to Las Vegas. The project will employ 10 people and involves a $7.6 million capital investment.

According to Scientific Games’ documents presented to the State of Nevada, the companies chose Southern Nevada due to the region’s gaming history, a favorable state and local tax structure, and a Nevada incentive package, including a Nevada film tax credit program.

The State of Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development awarded Scientific Games and Scientific Games Productions an incentive package at its January board meeting, which included a $1.4 million offering from the state’s deal-closing “Catalyst” fund.
