O2 Ireland is the most discussed takeover target in the Irish telco space, with a sale expected to kick off soon, said two sector bankers, a consultant, a lawyer and an industry executive. Despite denials by its parent Telefonica [TEF:SM], which has been deleveraging aggressively, that a formal process is in place, two banks are being considered for a mandate, they claimed.
