BMW invests € 1 billion in Austria
Today more than one million engines and ten million core engine components already leave the assembly lines of the Austrian BMW plant in Steyr, Upper Austria each year. The electric drive technology will play an even bigger role at the facility in the future. Starting in 2025, the next generation of e-drives of the BMW Group will be produced here. By 2025, more than 600,000 e-powered engines will be manufactured.
Medical University of Vienna among the world’s best hospitals
The Berlin-based electric bike subscription provider Dance has raised € 12 million in funding from existing and new investors within the context of a round of financing. The fresh capital will also enable Dance to invest heavily in its Vienna site and expand business with corporate customers.

Birthday of Austria’s first satellite
Developed and built at the Graz University of Technology, the TUGSAT-1 turned Austrian into a space nation when it became the first Austrian satellite to be launched into orbit ten years ago. On 25 February 2013, TUGSAT-1 made its journey into space aboard a launch vehicle that took off from Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.
Investment for anti-perspirant startup
An injection of fresh capital for the Austrian startup Hidrei: the Salzburg-based company led by founder Stefan Steiner is developing an anti-perspirant to help people combat excess sweat. The company has now attracted investments on the part of two investors to help it with its market launch. This includes the former managing director of a global medical company as well as Ariane IX AG headquartered in Germany. The total investment is a six-digit euro amount.
