China’s highly fragmented pharmacy chain sector will continue to see top players leading the M&A spree by swallowing smaller ones. Beijing’s continuous efforts to crack down on skyrocketing drug prices and the “two invoice" reform in the drug distribution sector has heavily affected the current drug selling channels in hospitals. This has offered opportunities for pharmacies to replace hospitals in becoming the major channels of drug selling.
