China’s Xinwei Group Signs USD 420m Contract with WiAfrica Tanzania

Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology Group Co., Ltd. (Xinwei Group) announced on Wednesday that its subsidiary Chongqing Xinwei Telecom Technology has signed two equipment purchase contracts worth USD 420m with WiAfrica Tanzania Limited.

WiAfrica Tanzania Limited is a telecommunications operator which obtained its license to operate network services in Tanzania in 2014 and is preparing to build a 4G telecom network to cover the entire country.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Beijing, Xinwei Group is China’s only ITU-certified communications enterprise. The company enjoys a well-earned reputation for its world-leading wireless communications technology.

Chongqing Xinwei is a high-tech enterprise known for designing, producing and installing wireless telecommunications products, and was founded in 1998 by Xinwei Group, the Chongqing Communication Administration and the Chongqing High Technology Industrial Park.

Xinwei Group has expanded overseas on the strength of its technology and recently negotiated a USD 662m deal in Ukraine. The two contracts with WiAfrica Tanzania are expected to significantly boost Xinwei’s profits and bolster its global expansion.
